Most Intense Hurricanes for the North Atlantic Basin

    Here is a list of all recorded major (cat. 3, 4, 5) hurricanes which have occurred in the North Atlantic Basin. Storms are ranked by the lowest minimum central pressure measured during their lifetime. The maximum sustained winds are also listed, according to either the best track intensity, or the operationally-estimated intensity.

Historic data is from the HURDAT 'best track' database. Data from recent storms is from official NHC advisories, operational 'best track' files, aircraft recon and dropsondes, surface observations, and preliminary storm reports, etc.
