Skiing Clips from Winter Park, Colorado
April 12, 2009
On this day, I went skiing with Mike Michaelson and Alison
Ordelheide. Since pictures cannot really capture the excitement or challenge of
skiing, we tried to shoot some video. Our goal was to accurately
capture some of the thrill and fun of skiing trees and bumps at Winter Park. We
found out that it is very difficult to shoot on this type of terrain with a
handheld camera. Nevertheless, you might enjoy it - or you you just might get
motion sickness.
The videos on this page use the new Silverlight viewer from Microsoft. The
best way to view the videos is in full-screen mode. You can get this by clicking
on the right 'expand' button once the video is cued.
If you don't already have Silverlight installed, clicking on the video
window will take you to a web site where you can easily and quickly download it
(it's free). If you have any problems viewing the videos, please
let me know.
Part I is out off of the Eagle Winds lift and was shot by
Jonathan Vigh. It was very rough, but includes some humorous moments.
Part II was also at Eagle Winds, shot by Alison
Ordelheide. I think this is the most humorous of the videos, as it seems none of
the featured skiers, nor the cameraperson, could stay upright!
Part III was shot by Jonathan Vigh, also at Eagle Winds, and is mainly of Alison
tearing it up in the trees. This time we got our camera technique down a bit
better. This is the best video of the four.
Part IV was shot by Jonathan, and is our attempt at filming
bump skiing. It was very challenging to try to keep up with Alison in the
moguls, and still keep the camera pointed in the general direction. It's
probably a miracle that I didn't faceplant into a mogul!
