Here is the progression of Fort Collins FKT's in reverse chronological order:

        10/05/08    The inaugural Blue Sky Marathon and Half Marathon occurred today. Four course records were established and these routes will be added to the FKT project for anyone else who would like to post their fastest times.  The male and female course record for the marathon were set by Johannes Rudolph (3:23:46) and Lindsay Habermann (4:30:09). For the half marathon, the course records were set by Jonathan Vigh (1:31:30) and Susan Nuzum (1:43:19).

        03/20/08    Dan Turk sets an even higher bar for Towers Road, setting the new ascent FKT with 0:34:52. This breaks his old time from a couple weeks previous.

        03/06/08    Dan Turk established a new ascent FKT for Towers Road with a time of 0:36:22. This broke the old time of 0:37:36, set back on 06/30/06 by Dan Turk and Phil Klotzbach.

    10/30/07    Jonathan Vigh established a new descent (0:15:23) and round-trip (0:43:36) FKT for the South Summit of Horsetooth Rock.

    10/07/07    Jonathan Vigh set a new FKT for the Blue Sky Double with a time of 3:00:05. The previous FKT had been set by Dan Turk on 09/26/06 with a time of 3:03:54.

    09/27/07  Steve Saleeby set a new FKT for Coyote Ridge with a time of 0:48:12 (!) He took nearly two minutes off the old FKT of 0:50:05, set back in 10/21/06. Jonathan ran as a sacrificial rabbit for the first mile, and ended up taking nearly 7 minutes off his PR with a time of 0:51:57.

    09/09/07  Today Jonathan Vigh set a new FKT (by nearly 9 min) for the 'short' Mill Creek Loop (Soderberg Trailhead -> Nomad -> South Valley -> Mill Creek -> Towers Road -> Soderberg Trailhead) which is 8.9 miles with 1900-2000 vertical feet of climbing. The old time of 1:24:27 was set by Steve Saleeby and Jonathan Vigh on 05/22/07.

    06/17/07  The FortCollinsTrailRunners' first ever downhill time trial was a success. Four runners showed up (2 from Fort Collins, 1 from Denver, and 1 from Boulder). Dan Turk set a new downhill FKT for Tower Road, with a blistering time of 18:14. Jonathan Vigh ran 18:20.

   06/14/07   Two years to the day after the previous FKT was set, Dan Turk and Jonathan Vigh smashed the Towers Road descent FKT by nearly 3 minutes with a total time of 0:18:55. Their average pace for the 3.4 mile descent was 5:34 min/mile, with an average descent rate of 91 feet per minute, or 5487 ft/hr over the 1730 foot descent. Jonathan's old time of 0:21:44 was set back on 06/14/05. Dan's old time of 0:22:11 was set back on 10/08/06.

    05/15/07   A new FKT page has been established for the new Blue Sky Trail. FKTs will be kept for the one-way distance (north to south, south to north) as well as the round-trip, which is dubbed the Blue Sky Double (inspired by the famous Mesa Trail Double of Boulder).

    03/19/07    Today Suzette Vandivier established the female FKT for Devil's Backbone with a time of 1:00:27.

    05/22/07    During a FCTR run, Steve Saleeby and Jonathan Vigh ran the short Mill Creek loop (8.9 miles, 1900 vertical) in 1:24:27, breaking the old time of 1:25:51 that Jonathan had run last summer (a straw man time). 

10/21/06    Today Steve Saleeby set a solid new FKT for the round-trip of Coyote Ridge with a time of 0:50:05. The old FKT of 0:51:09 was set back on 07/29/04.

10/08/06    Today Dan Turk and Jonathan Vigh broke the round-trip FKT for Towers Road with a time of 1:02:09. (Their ascent time of 0:39:58 and descent time of 0:22:11 were not FKT's). The old FKT of 1:04:56 was set by Jonathan back on 07/14/05. 

09/26/06    At today's FortCollinsTrailRunners Time Trial, Jonathan Vigh smashed the open FKT for the descent of the N. Summit of Horsetooth Rock. His time of 0:15:36 was  more than a minute faster than the old time of 0:16:58 (set just over a month ago). This is also quite a bit faster than the previous FKT for either summit (Jeff McCoy ran sub-17 in 1981 from the South Summit). Bryan Trammel also bettered his PRs with an ascent of 0:31:35, a descent of 0:19:25, and a round-trip of 0:51:00 (over 4 minute improvement!).

07/28/06    This morning Jonathan Vigh set a new FKT for the descent of Round Mountain, with a time of 0:37:18. The old time of 0:38:34 was also set by him back on 06/30/05.

07/06/06    This afternoon, Mike Smith went out and smashed the recently set ascent FKT for Arthurs Rock, as well as the round-trip FKT. Mike ascended in 0:20:04 (the old FKT of 0:21:25 had been set just that morning by Dan Turk and Phil Klotzbach). Including less than a minute at the top, Mike then ran down in 0:13:26, giving a round-trip time of 0:33:31. This is a new round-trip FKT, breaking Todd Rivas's time of 0:36:25 set back in 2002.

07/06/06    This morning, Phil Klotzbach and Dan Turk set a new ascent FKT for Arthurs Rock with a time of 0:21:25. The old time of 0:21:38 was set back in 2002 by Todd Rivas (old trail routing).

07/04/06    Jonathan Vigh set a new FKT for the descent of Arthurs Rock with a time of 0:12:01. The old FKT was set back in 2002 by Todd Rivas (0:12:??). The trail has been rerouted since then, so this time is not directly comparable with the old FKT.

06/29/06    Dan Turk and Phil Klotzbach set a new FKT for the ascent of Towers Road with a time of 0:37:37. The old FKT was 0:40:15 set by Bob Conzemius on 06/14/05.

06/08/06    Jonathan Vigh set a new FKT for the descent of the North Summit of Horsetooth Rock (down the Audra Culver service road, no shortcut). His time was 0:16:58. This time is within striking range of the all-time descent FKT from either summit (Jeff McCoy, 1981, sub-17).

04/06/06    Matt Bedoukian set an unofficial FKT for the ascent of the North Summit of Horsetooth. His time was 0:26:58. This FKT is considered unofficial since Matt used an unofficial trail shortcut. 

09/03/05    Matt Bedoukian again sets a new open ascent (0:27:05), descent (0:17:32), and round-trip (0:44:37) FKTs for the north summit of Horsetooth Rock.

09/01/05    Jonathan Vigh sets a new open ascent (0:30:02) and round-trip (0:47:16) FKTs for the south summit of Horsetooth Rock. Jonathan ran down in 0:17:14 which was not quite a FKT. The old round-trip FKT of 0:48:23 was set by Jeff McCoy in 1981 (his descent was < 17 min on a couple of occasions).

09/01/05    Then, 2 min and 11 sec later, Matt Bedoukian took out Jonathan Vigh's time to set a new standard for the south summit of Horsetooth Rock. The new open ascent  FKT is now 0:27:26, and the new open round-trip FKT is 0:44:40! (This is 2 min 36 sec faster than the previous FKT which was set only a couple minutes earlier). Matt's descent time of 0:17:14 ties Jonathan Vigh's time, but is a bit slower than Jeff McCoy's descent time in 1981.   

08/20/05    Matt Bedoukian sets a new open FKT for the north summit of Horsetooth Rock with an ascent time of 0:27:54! The old FKT of 0:29:23 was set by Todd Rivas on 09/24/04.

08/18/05    Matt Bedoukian sets a new open FKT for the Round/Sheep Mountain ascent with a time of 0:58:37! This is almost 5 minutes faster than the old record!

07/14/05    Jonathan Vigh set a new round-trip FKT for Towers Road with a time of 1:04:56 during a FCTR run with Bryan Trammell. The old round-trip time of 1:14:24 was pretty lame because we had goofed around on top for about 10 minutes when we ran it back in June.

06/30/05    Phillip Klotzbach sets a new open FKT for the Round/Sheep Mountain ascent with a time of 1:03:15. Jonathan Vigh raises the bar for the descent FKT with a time of 0:38:34. Jonathan also set the overall round-trip FKT with a time of 1:45:20.

06/14/05    Towers Road has been added to the FKT page. Bob Conzemius, Phil Klotzbach, and Jonathan Vigh ran an impromptu time trial up this new route during a FCTR run. Bob ended up with the ascent FKT: 0:40:15, and Jonathan got the descent FKT (0:21:44) and round-trip FKT (1:14:24).

05/30/05    Round/Sheep Mountain has been added to the FKT page. During a hike/run in April, I read the summit register and discovered an ascent time of 1:05:?? by Steve Read back in October 2004. Since I don't know of a faster time, this is the new FKT. I ran down in 0:42:42 which apparently is the current descent FKT.

05/30/05    Devil's Backbone has been added to the FKT page. The only known times are from a FCTR run on May 22, 2005, when Todd Rivas ran the course in 0:53:26.

10/20/04    Sarah Rawley sets the female FKT for the north summit of Horsetooth Rock with a time of 0:34:56 (old FKT was by Beth Coppock at 0:52:18). Todd Rivas nearly sets FKT for S. Summit with an ascent of 0:28:36 and a round-trip time of 0:48:39). Dan Turk ascends N. Summit in 0:29:56, only seconds off of Todd's FKT of 0:29:23.

10/10/04    Todd Rivas breaks his own ascent record on Arthurs Rock by 2 minutes with a time of 0:21:38.

09/29/04    Todd Rivas destroys the FKT for the north summit of Horsetooth Rock. This is the first 'open' FKT set by an FCTR member on a local area peak. Todd ran up in 0:29:23, down in 0:18:33, for a total time of 0:47:56!

08/10/04    The Arthurs Rock (via Timber Trail) FKT was set today in both the ascent and descent. Dan Turk ran up in 0:41:50 (Phil Klotzbach was close behind at 0:42:15). Dan, Phil, and Jotham Matabi all ran down in 0:35:39, setting a new FKT for the descent.

07/29/04    Steve Saleeby smashed the FKT for Coyote Ridge, with a time of 0:51:09. The old time of 1:00:56, set by Phil  Klotzbach, had stood for just 6 days!

07/25/04    Todd Rivas sets new FKT for Greyrock Mountain ascent: 0:44:42.

07/24/04    Phil Klotzbach whittles away at the FKT for Coyote Ridge, with a time of 1:00:56. The old time of 1:01:23 was set by Phil Klotzbach and Todd Rivas on 07/01/04.
